Gardner snatches late win

After a tough fought race between the leagues top 2, it came down to drama on the last lap to decide the winner.Pole sitter Ettles lead the majority of the race only losing the lead briefly when pitting. There was a long battle between Holman and Martin for 3rd and 4th positions which Holman would eventually win and take 3rd position at the flag.So disaster was to strike for Keith Ettles after not putting a foot wrong all race, on the last lap Ettles and Gardner closed in on a battle between Andy Docherty and Gerhard Hirschle,on braking into the tight right hand er Docherty was collected by Hirschle. This ending with Docherty in the sand trap and Hirschle stranded mid track just as the 2 lead cars approached,Daz Gardner having slightly more time to react managed to guide his Lambo through the wreckage but Keith Ettles Ferrari clipped the rear of the stranded Aston Martin and there losing the lead, and the race.So with the 2 Italian car giants dominating the series again its of to Brno for rd 5.

Kyle Busch Goes For Triple Win

FONTANA, Calif. -- Hours after winning a Camping World Truck Series race in a runaway,Kyle Busch staged a repeat performance in Saturday night's Stater Bros. 300 Nationwide Series event at Auto Club Speedway.

"It's awesome," Busch said after climbing out of his No. 18 Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota. "This is just a blast. It's pretty special to beat guys like Carl [Edwards] and Kevin [Harvick]. To win here twice in one day is even more special."

In claiming the 22nd Nationwide Series victory of his career, Busch became the first driver ever to win two races in any of NASCAR's top three series on the same day. Busch had come close once before, finishing second to Jamie Mcmurry by .005 seconds in a July 2007 Cup race at Daytona after winning a rain-delayed Nationwide race earlier in the day.

On Sunday, he'll try for another record -- a weekend sweep of NASCAR's top three series at the same race track.

All we can hope for is it was as good as last weeks Daytona 500, below is the biggest talking point of the race as Dale Jr takes out most of the field. Also ending Busch's race which he was dominating.

Branson may rescue Formula One team

Virgin boss Sir Richard Branson has signalled that he might be prepared to step in to rescue the Honda Formula One motor racing team.

The British-based team was put up for sale in December after the parent company in Japan announced it was quitting the sport as both a constructor and engine supplier.

Sir Richard refused to confirm reports that he was already in negotiations with Honda over the purchase of the team.

However, in an interview with BBC Radio 4'S Today programme, he emphasised his enthusiasm for the sport while making clear that it would have to change if Virgin was to become involved.

"I love Formula One. I think that there are faults there that would need to be rectified before we moved into Formula One," he said.

"We would need to be sure that Bernie Ecclestone is running it so that the teams can make ends meet and we would need to be sure that he is on a path to try to turn Formula One a sport that is championing green technology.

"It would be great fun and subject to those two provisos maybe something might be able to get sorted out.

"With the Virgin brand expanding on a global basis, it is certainly something that is attractive."

Sebastien Loeb leads from the front

Rally leader Sebastien Loeb set the fastest time though Saturday’s opening stage and reckoned that running as first car on the road was no worse than going second.

With two metre snow banks either side of the twisty, ice-covered road, the Mountain stage resembles a 24.36km bobsleigh track. It’s one of the fastest and most extreme challenges of the World Rally Championship - and a firm favourite with drivers.

Loeb will tackle all of Saturday’s stages first, after he was gifted a slim rally lead last night by Mikko Hirvonen, so the Finn had a swept racing line to follow on each stage. Loeb, however, felt there was little to be gained by running second.

“I was flat out all the time, and the split times with Mikko were the same,” he said. “The conditions are very, very nice and I made no mistakes. It’s great fun to drive like that. On this stage the surface is completely ice. There is no difference for Mikko, I think.”

Hirvonen completed the stage in the second fastest time, seven-tenths of a second slower than Loeb but more concerned about the pace of his own team-mate behind. “With Sebastien it’s a close fight, but somehow I have a feeling Jari-Matti will be fast,” he said. “It’s enjoyable to drive this stage, and the car worked well, but I didn’t get the perfect lines and sometimes I was braking when I didn’t need to. Perhaps I wasn’t quite awake.”

Fortunately for Hirvonen, Latvala was also struggling to get into the groove. Jari-Matti set the third fastest time but was 14 seconds slower than Mikko. “I just really didn’t find the right feeling,” he explained. “The grip was amazingly good and the stage was absolutely fabulous, but I was braking too much. I only need to look in the mirror to see who is to blame. It’s okay though.”

Dani Sordo said his C4 WRC was moving about a lot on the fast section but he did enough to stay fourth in the overall standings. However Petter Solberg, who was fifth overnight, dropped down to seventh after a slow stage in his Xsara. “I tried my best but the time wasn’t so good,” he said. “Maybe the car has some more to give, I don’t know, but on the very fast stages this is the best we can do for the time being.”

Skoda driver P-G Andersson moved up to fifth and felt there was more to come from his Fabia WRC. “I’m not happy with that,” he said at the finish. “We can do much better than this.” Stobart Ford driver Henning Solberg set the fourth fastest time and moved up a place to sixth. “It’s not much, but it’s okay,” he said.

Citroen Junior Team drivers Sebastien Ogier and Evgeny Novikov both experienced problems. Ogier reported a mysterious lack of power in his C4 WRC, while Novikov collected a 1min time penalty for leaving service late.

Kicking The Ass out of racing

After reading a forum post on pit building I started to see what I could do to improve my cockpit and racing experience.Reading the post about motion pads and sound sensors it soon came apparent we were in the realms of fantasy with the costs these can occur it then hit me "Buttkicker"
Coming from a flightsim back ground I had a buttkicker for my flightsim rig.Now all I had to do was adapt it for my Evo Playseat,Back to the forums for some inspiration and bingo it had already been done.A slight modification to fit the Buttkicker clamp to the base of the seat and onto the track for a test. What can I say as a race friend of mine would say "Its the Bollocks" every small bump you can feel and running the rumble strips at the corners really does hurt. This has taken my cockpit setup to another level and improved the racing experience even more.
So if your looking to improve your racing experience its the way to go.Stay tuned for my next addon, you know there's bound to be one.

Flying Scotsman Takes Monza

Keith Ettles drove a commanding race from start to finish to take top spot at Monza for Rd 1 of the AnE gt pro league. The fireman from Edinburgh was just to hot for the rest of the field, although early on in the race Chris File from our very own Chequered flag Race Team was in the no.1 seat until he caught the curb exiting the parabolica.Ettles passed him and never looked back taking maximum points for PJ Racing.Chris recovered from his slight mishap and took second closely followed by Lambo Dambo's Darren Gardener.Paul Gray made a impressive League debut with a 5 place after Chequered flags no.2 driver Nick Carnell had to make a stop and go from fourth place throwing away a 38 second lead over gray. Some great racing from nearly a full field and very little in the way of race incidents capped a great start to the gt league which now moves to sunny Spain and Valencia for what will be a taxing twisty and very bumpy track.

DIY

With alot of controls in any race game and only so many buttons on a G25 its a fact that you need to use your keyboard. Not a problem you would think, but when your travelling at high speeds in the middle of a tough race its not always easy to find that right button. This were with a bit of technical info and a few spare hours you could make your racing experience alot easier.I found a old wingman controller on ebay for 1 pound and some push to make buttons + wire from Maplins for 8 pounds and I was all set to go.Taking the circuit board out of the contoller, all was needed to do was to redirect the contol inputs of the control buttons to my buttons.Armed with my trusty soldering iron and steady hand this is a task most people can achieve.
