Formula One Showcar & Motion Simulator

Something to spend this weeks pocket money chaps.

We´ve already seen quite a lot of motion simulators that try to bring the forces of real racing to virtual motorsports. F1Showcar goes a step further, using a full blown Formula One showcar for their motion simulator.
The show car looks just like a real Formula One car, including an authentic livery. Equipped with a pc system, screen, a Logitech racing wheel and put on the motion platform, the car is turned into a full motion simulator that is able to accelerate up to 1.62g.
Of course, all this high tech glory does not come cheap as motion simulators from F1Showcar start at $30.000, coming with your choice of livery and wings. Below are photos and a video of the set in action, more info can be found on the F1Showcar website

Gardner Takes Win and Title

AnE GT-Pro 2009 Champion
Daz Gardner

2nd
Keith Ettles

3rd
Nick Carnell

Ian Beech

It all hinged on the last race of the season at the AnE GT-Pro League, with the last 2 rounds being won by Keith Ettles the pressure was on for Gardner to finish in the top 2 to become league champion. With a tight qualifying session seeing Ettles take top spot closely followed by Gardner and Bertram in 2nd and 3rd.
Gardner with a great start was into turn 1 clear of Nick Carnell, disaster was to strike Ettles who had being suffering gearbox problems with a big lock up off the grid which also slowed Bertrams start.Carnell would keep pace with Gardner until lap 7 when Gardner pulled away widening the gap between himself and Ettles who was battling back through the field.Carnell with a 10 second gap over 3rd place Ettles would lose his 2nd place with a big lockup into the sand on turn 5.With the pit stops having little effect on the places the race would draw to an end with Gardner taking the win, Ettles finished 12 seconds behind in 2nd and Carnell needing a good finish to challenge for 3rd in the championship would come in 3rd.Bertram 4th and Beech 5th would be enough to tie Carnell for overall 3rd place in the league.

Motec Add DX for GTR Evolution - Released

Alekhine has released a new version of his Motec Add tool for GTR Evolution & RACE07. The tool displays plenty of useful telemetry data directly on the game’s HUD, check out the video below to see it in action.

The tool can be downloaded below, detailed instructions in both English and French are available here.

I have the previous version and that works well and they now seem to have gone to the old GTR2 view mode, which you run on the same screen as your game, very handy if you only have 1 monitor.

Chaos Reigns at Daytona

Last night saw the League opener at Daytona for Race Connects Nationwide Nascar Series, the event will run for a total of 36 races covering Oval and Road Circuits. The race was marred with numerous cautions and was never to really get going.Steve Dyche would go on to take the Chequered flag and the opening win.On a positive note there was a strong field of 27 drivers at the start, but the race would see many fall short of the final flag. 1 of those would be Chequered Flags own team driver Nick Carnell who with only 10 minutes to go and in a strong 9th position was hit by a flying wheel only to brake his steering and then to get collected in the massive shunt on the home straight.
